Resilience in
the form of wax
POSTER BODY COPY:
The phrase, “burning the candle at both ends” refers to overextending yourself. John Wesley [theologian] stated, “light yourself on fire with passion and people will come from miles to watch you burn.”
When pursuing a passion there comes a certain point where the flame extinguishes. We remain resilient because we have the potential to grow and overcome our hardships. Just as the flame of a candle can be lit again. The efforts slowly burn through until we reach a point of completion, or an empty candle.
I created this poster out of my love for candles. What they could represent, the type of waxes used, the types of scents—-it was me and my candles against the world, or the semester, when I picked it as the object I would be focusing on.
I write a bit about resilience compared to a candle, as well as different wax burn times.
